Kansas Bluestem Nubians
At Bluestem Acres we raise ADGA registered Nubian dairy goats under the herdname "Kansas Bluestem." Our goal is quality home milkers, who can hold their own in a show ring. 2021 was our first year on DHIR Milk Test and we had our first Linear Appraisal session in 2022. Kathryn will debut our goats in the 4-H show ring (and possibly some open shows in Kansas) in 2023. Our breeding program is focused on creating the best goat. We want longevity in health and production, with conformationally correct animals.
We think we're done purchasing adult does, but there could be a special gal that sneaks in one day. I'll never say we won't ever buy a doe kid, as there are several breeders who we love and if the right opportunity arose, we'd buy a kid from them without question, especially if it is related to lines we already own. We've chosen to focus our bloodlines on Kastdemur, Goldthwaite, Goddard Farms and Wingwood genetics, but you'll see plenty that isn't from those lineages as well. Right now, we're a "mess" of different lines, but we have a vision and are working towards blending them all together.
Our herd is protected by three irreplaceable dogs, Max and Gidget and their daughter Charlotte. We occasionally have a litter of puppies available. For puppy information, please see their page. The next litter won't arrive until 2024, but we will contact those interested once they hit the ground.
