Breeding Plans and Herd Info
Our breeding plans will be updated if any changes occur and we will accept a waitlist on all kids. Deposits are accepted at any time after the pregnancies are confirmed via bloodtest or ultrasound. If you are interested in a particular cross that hasn't been confirmed yet, we do keep a list of interested parties. Deposits are refundable only if the reserved kid is unvailable (not born, decision to retain, illness, death, etc). Please respect our right to retain any kid born on our farm, regardless of deposits present, if we decide to do so. To reserve a kid based on the planned breedings shown in the table below, please read the Reservation Policies, and then contact us for instructions on how to send your deposit. Unreserved kids are posted to the For Sale page as soon as possible, but don't hesitate to contact us for availability.

All buck kids who are born without a reservation in place can be purchased as bottle babies without registration with a wether agreement ($75 purchase, $100 wether deposit, deposit returned upon photo proof of wethering when animal is old enough). The majority of unreserved buck kids will be sold for meat if not purchased by one week old.

Herd Disease Testing Information
We test randomly for CAE and Johnes, usually with batches of pregnancy tests. Our doe herd remains CAE and Johnes free. We are also free of abscesses. We do have two CAE+ bucks, but thus far have not had transference of the disease between adult goats. All kids from any doe who could test positive (i.e. bred with a CAE+ buck) are pulled at birth and bottle raised on CAE-negative or heat treated milk. We are happy to provide the most recent testing results to you at your request.

Sale of Does in Milk
Junior does will usually be freshened at approximately 15 months of age and kept for a period of time to evaluate udder and production. We will determine whether to retain or sell a yearling first freshener based on her udder, conformation and production. Senior does may be offered for sale after all spring/early summer kiddings have occurred. Senior does will only be sold if we feel we have retained adequate numbers of daughters in our herd to improve upon their dam. It is unlikely we will sell a Senior doe who does not have a daughter that has freshened. Pricing on Junior does begins at $550, Senior does begins at $700. Pricing goes up from there based on performance and quality. Does will only be sold in pairs, and performance herds (show, DHIR, and/or Linear Appraisal) are given first priority.

Planned Breedings
The chart below contains planned breedings. When an asterisk is next to the doe name, it indicates pregnancy has been confirmed via BioPRYN pregnancy test through SEK Genetics or Ultrasound imagery. Reservations are open on those breedings. Doe names without an asterisk are unconfirmed, and those without a due date are uncompleted, so we are only accepting names of interested individuals,

We will accept 2 doe and 2 buck reservations from all pairings, unless noted otherwise. Retained doelings may be offered for sale later in the season as we are able to observe growth rates.

Kansas Bluestem Nubians Kid Reservation Policies
To reserve a kid before birth, a $100 deposit is required. All deposits are non-refundable, assuming the kid is produced from the paring and we are offering it for sale. Refunds for deposits on kids we decide to retain will be provided. The balance of the purchase price is due within 10 days of birth.

We require a 1st choice and a 2nd choice selection for all deposits. 2nd choice selections should be from the same "kidding group" or a following "kidding group." (I.e. if your first choice is kidding in March, do not select a doe due in January as your second choice.) Should neither choice be born, we will offer a refund of your deposit, opportunity to purchase a currently available/unreserved kid, or allow you to forward that deposit to the following kidding season.

Pick-up & Shipping
All kids reserved prior to birth should be picked up or shipped before 2 weeks of age, unless special "wet kid" pricing is in place or you have made prior arrangements with us for keeping them longer. Reserved kids not picked up before 4 weeks of age, without special pickup arrangements in-place, will be considered "abandoned" and will be offered for sale to the next individual in line. Refunds will not be made for deposits of kids that are not picked up in a timely manner.

"Wet kids" must be picked up before 4 days of age. "Wet kids" will be offered on occasion when our lives are busier than normal. "Wet kids" will be sold on registration application, only. Disbudding and tattooing according to the registration application will be the responsibility of the buyer, as kids who are less than 4 days old are usually too young to complete those tasks. "Wet kids" will be started on the bottle, but will not be experts yet, either. "Wet kids" come with no guarantees.

Shipping is done at the buyers expense. This includes all veterinary expenses (health certificate), crate cost, airfare or livestock transport fees, and fuel expenses to transport the animal to the airport or meeting place of the professional transporter. Fees incurred by Bluestem Acres should be reimbursed in advance of the shipping date.

G6S Status
We do have a few G6S Carriers in our herd. The breeding plans table is noted in the buckling column if a pairing could produce a G6S Carrier. Doe kids are sold with "POSSIBLE" G6S carrier status and without testing. If you would like testing completed on your reserved doe kid (testing result does not affect status of the deposit), we will do so at your expense, at our ADGA Plus membership rate. We do not sell bucks from crosses that could result in a G6S carrier buckling, without testing paid for by the potential buyer. Buckling G6S testing is sent direct to UCDavis to speed up the results. If the tested buckling turns out to be a carrier, your deposit, less the cost of the testing, will be returned to you or we will move on to your second choice buckling. Disbudding & Tattoos
All kids are disbudded and given CD&T, plus applicable tattoos for registration. IF YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR KID DISBUDDED OR VACCINATED, PLEASE LET US KNOW WHEN SENDING YOUR DEPOSIT.

Pricing Inclusions
Pricing listed is only guaranteed for pre-reserved kids picked up by 3 weeks of age. Kids not picked up by 3 weeks of age will incur a $15/week boarding charge.

Doe kid pricing includes price for the kid only. It does not include registration fees or DNA, G6S or AS1C testing. We are happy to do that for you at the ADGA Plus member rate, but it is an additional cost.
​
Buck kid pricing includes the kid plus the cost of DNA verification. Registration fees are not included. AS1C Testing can be ordered at our ADGA Plus member rate, and paid for by the buyer.
