Riding Lessons

Riding lessons are closed for 2022. We will reopen in March of 2023.
Contact us to be on the scheduling list.
Pricing is outlined below.

We're not fancy. Your first lesson is given in our 45' wood/wire round pen. Riders graduate to our 100'x200' outdoor arena, with a dirt base, as skill/comfort increases. Our facility is under constant improvement so there may be the occasional trailer of old materials, a temporary fence or other DIY project going on.

Our lessons focus on basic skills and safety, with a goal of trail riding and obstacle course fun. We're not a show barn or show facility. Riders learn how to ride and handle a horse safely and correctly but don't expect show-level critiquing or skills. You can certainly start here and go on to a show-style barn, but we're about having fun first without the stress of being ready for a show.

We teach riders of "all ages" but do require that you are fully "able-bodied." We do not have facilities and equipment that are handicap accessible. Children, ages 7 and up, and adults (weight restrictions may apply) are eligible for individual and group riding lessons. Some six-year-old children may be able to do so, but should be excellent listeners and very determined. Children ages 4-6 can take "lead-line" and knowledge lessons so they'll be comfortable around horses when they are old enough to ride in individual or group lessons. If you have someone interested that is younger than 4, special consideration can be given. Contact us and we'd be happy to discuss options with you!

Human spectators are allowed but will be required to sign a liability waiver. If the spectator is a minor, please plan in advance so you can take a liability waiver to their parents PRIOR to their visit. Please DO NOT bring your pets to our facility, no matter how good they are with horses.

All riding lessons include roughly 40 minutes of riding time (lead-line includes approximately 20 minutes). Participants are required to brush and help tack their own horse before riding. The first 10-15 minutes of every lesson includes grooming and tacking up of the horses. If you are late, the riding time will be shorter, as lessons are ended "on time" to keep the schedule flowing and we do not allow a rider to skip or "skimp" on the grooming and tacking. The last 5-10 minutes of every lesson includes untacking and grooming. If you are the last lesson of the evening, and have extra time in your schedule, riders can participate in feeding and/or overnight pasture turn-out.

**Lessons should be booked 48 hours in advance.**
