Sweet-B's Karma

ADGA #N1943709

Karma is a medium sized doe with a nice dairy frame. She's very friendly and often exhibits a playful silliness, despite being a mature doe. Karma was bred by a young lady, Edye Schofield, in Pueblo, Colorado. We were blessed to purchased her bred for her second freshening in December of 2020. She stands on strong feet and legs, with nice angularity. Her topline is strong, but not too flat. She's lacking width of frame, but has nice spring of rib.

Karma's udder is very round and has beautiful, long, slender teats. She is easy to milk, and puts what you feed her into the pail without losing weight. Karma's udder does have some "meat" to it, and never looks completely empty, but it is snuggly attached beneath her. The texture is smooth. Her udder laction rear udder arch, and if we could add a little height, we would not complain, but the texture and ease of milking is so nice we have retained several daughters.

DHI Records

Karma earned her milk star during her first lactation with us. Unfortunately, her breeder did not participate in DHIR, so Karma is only 1*M, but her granddam, Goldthwaite Antonette was a 9*M.

Karma- December 2020

Karma has a beautiful frame and a nice long neck. We also appreciate the breed character shown in her facial profile.

Her udder could use more height and wider rear attachment. We love her teats, but hope to improve the orifice size in her progeny.

Her foreudder blends well into her abdomen, and has pulled those long, lovely pencil shaped teats into a wonderful milking position. We never miss the pail when milking Karma.

Kidding Journal @ Bluestem Acres

2021: When we purchased Karma in late fall 2020, she was already bred to Jacob's Pride No Mistake Maid4U (now owned by Jennifer Wilson, Zao Life Farms, Inman, KS). Karma surprised us with triplets, despite never showing much of a belly. She kidded easily 2B, 1D- four days early on the coldest day we've ever seen in Kansas. The high temperature was 1 degree Farenheit! I had been sitting with her in the quarantine hut all day long. She was anxious but wasn't having noticeable contractions, despite streaming goo. I decided a 15 minute lunch break was ok, and returned to find three kids in the shavings. Due to the temperatures, I immediately brought them inside to dry them off! We retained one buck, and the doeling, Sweet B's Calamity Jane. The buckling, Sweet-B's Karma's Confusion 4U, was a big growthy boy, who looks like he will have great stature, but tested as a G6S Carrier, so we moved him on to another herd as a yearling. Jane's personality was sweeter than her momma and she freshened beautifully, but we had to make some hard cuts after our 2022 LA session, and Jane was below the bar. Karma qualified for her AR* in all three categories during her 2021 lactation and milked well until the beginning of January when we dried her off for pre-kidding recovery. We look forward to retaining more Karma daughters in the future, and maybe one of them will surpass Karma in quality and production.

2022: Karma was confirmed bred to Cream O' The Crop P-NutBrittle, with a due date of March 6, 2022 using ultrasound imagery that showed triplets! We are so thankful for good friends willing to share equipment with us. She kidded March 1, 2022 with two bucks and a doe. The doe is now happy in Nebraska, since she tested as a G6S Carrier. She's a flashy little thing, black with tan trim, covered in spots and has a wide white belt. One buck kid, Kansas Bluestem Pandemonium, headed to the Tulsa, OK area as a new herdsire. The other buck kid sold as grade.
