Rocking Goat Farms Mimi

Mimi is a tall, level doe who carries herself gracefully. She is our "pseudo mother" to all the doe kid bottle babies, and loves to be surrounded in a snuggle pile of young does. Mimi enjoys being with people and appreciates a good cheek rubbing. If you're not careful, she will steal kisses on any part of exposed neck or facial skin. Mimi is also a goat who helped earn them the reputation of being willing to eat everything and she will steal papers, drawstrings, and anything else she can get into her mouth when given the chance.

What we love most about Mimi, aside from her personality, is the width and levelness in her rump. She had the highest score (at 32) of all our does for rump angle in our first Linear Appraisal. Her hips are wide and flat enough to carry a dinner plate, and this is carried nicely out through her pin bones. She kids very easily and unassisted as a result, hiding triplets in a very unassuming profile her first season with us, and delivering quads with ease in 2022. Mimi's udder has great great capacity and milks down nicely. She takes a little longer to milk than the most of the other girls, partly due to milk volumes and also her orifices could be slightly larger. Her teat size is nice and they hang very plumb with a well defined medial. We hope that we can add some width in rear udder arch and better blending of the foreudder in progeny through breeding.

DHI Records

Mimi earned her milk star in all three categories, making her 1*M, during her first lactation with us in 2021. We were very impressed with her peak production at just over 11.0 lbs. Mimi would likely be a 6*M had her previous owner participated in DHIA and tested her dam, Pella's Triple C Marseille.

Mimi- January 2022

While not the most flattering photo, this one shows her width in her rear/at her pins. In this image, she is 3 weeks from the due date of her 4th freshening.

Her udder could use a nicer arch. We like the height and medial, but hope to improve the arch and slim down the teat shape in her progeny. (Forgive the shaving job- this was the first udder I, Sam, EVER SHAVED!

Her foreudder does not blend well into her abdomen, but is well attached and provided a great angle to her teats, making it easy to hand milk into a bucket or pail.

Kidding Journal @ Bluestem Acres

2021: Mimi was bred to Cozy Meadow Royal N Ice when we purchased her in 2021. Her former owner was a man, and for the first several weeks she preferred Alex over me, Sam. She kidded easily with triplets- 2D, 1B- three days before her due date. I had been sitting with her most of the day, knowing labor was imminent, but left for an hour to run a quick errand. I returned to three kids on the ground, all healthy. We retained the doeling, and Clover is now one of herd favorites. Mimi earned her AR* in all three categories during her 2021 lactation, after only 7 months milking.

2022: Mimi was bred to Zao Hot Fudge, for 2022 kids. She kidded on 2/10/22 with quads, 2 bucks and 2 does. Bucks were both sold as grade. Doe kids were tested for G6S Status. Kansas Bluestem Marilyn Monroe is G6S Normal and has remained in our herd. The second doe kid, Kansas Bluestem Hot Momma Mia, is a G6S Carrier and now works in the CNJM herd in Wyoming. Mimi's udder grew in capacity in this lactation and she's steadily producing over 10lbs per day. Her first milk test of the year put 13.6lbs in the bucket, at 3.7 percent fat and 3.6 percent protein. We expect she'll easily exceed her prior year's production.
